I’m Luci (they/them)
I’ve always had a love for massage. It combines my love for anatomy and science with a personal interest in strengthening the mind-body connection. As I get older, the more I understand how much our lived experience influences our body - the way perceive the world, the way we move, and how we receive touch. In a society where we’re encouraged to intellectualise everything, our bodies can feel unfamiliar and being present can seem daunting. I believe that intentional touch, like massage, is a gorgeous way to reconnect to ourselves.
I started Pica Massage because I want everyone have access to massage therapy. Spas and salons can be difficult to navigate if you’re LGBTQIA+ or have specific access requirements. Whether you want to relieve that tension in your shoulders or to treat yourself just because, my aim to provide a service to those that feel conventional spaces aren’t for them.
About Pica Massage
Do you know the old nursery rhyme about seeing magpies?
“One for sorrow, two for joy, three for a girl, four for a boy…”
Spotting two magpies together is seen as a symbol of good luck and joy - I can’t claim to have the Midas touch, but I do want to make your life more joyful with massage. Pica pica is the Latin name for the Eurasian magpie, hence Pica Massage. And, as a non-binary person, I want to put my queer stamp on the phrase!
